A very enjoyable read with fantastic art and design elements and great story. The attention to detail is fantastic and I look forward to reading more from Adam and Colin. Folklore #1 is a fantastic intro to a new series and twist on the superhero genre. It made me think, Incredibles meets the Walking Dead. It’s a warning against the human condition and our wariness of the things unknown and teaches the hard lesson, that we should seek understanding before fighting and especially before we put our trust in things we don’t completely understand. I look forward to the following issues and seeing what is in store for this world in ruins.

Turning the superhero format on it’s head Folklore images and post-apocalyptic world where super humans aren’t all we believed they would be.
This story very efficiently sets this scene setting up how the population reacts to a self-imposed cleansing armageddon.
This introductory issue does a fantastic job in setting up the premise for the story. Folklore uses big visuals to create a sense of scale and drama which isn’t over cooked in dialogue or captions. The creators have struck a great balance here and ending this part of the story with a great hook luring you into issue 2.
Sci-fi and ‘Superhero’s are two genre’s where it’s pretty tough to say anything new and at risk of trolling an entire industry does the comic world really need more super humans? In Folklore we get a novel take on both and an interesting response to super hero fatigue.

I just blazed through Folklore 1-5, and I can’t wait for number 6! The art and design in these books is gorgeous, and I especially love the way the onomatopoeias are woven into the panels. It took me a couple of issues to really understand what was going on and who the characters were, but I might be alone in that. And now that I’m here, I’m really looking forward to more. Folklore seems to have every genre covered, and they do it so well. -Lane

Gorgeous art in a story that, in its first issue, brilliantly established the groundwork for this world and the challenges for its heroes. I look forward to reading more.

The first thing you’ll notice about Folklore is that it looks like a painting come to life. Stunning doesn’t even describe the vistas, cities and incredible action you’ll see. The colors are the real standout, setting the mood flawlessly on each page.

Oh, and it’s also an engaging story that reimagines the world of superheroes and their effect on society. Cannot recommend Folklore #1 enough, and it only gets better from there!
