Description

After years of brutal crackdowns on crime, Guangzhou has become one of the safest cities in China. The once powerful triads have been fractured into small gangs, fighting among themselves for survival. The citizens of Guangzhou praise their new governor, Zhe Tongzhi, for cleaning up the streets. But not all is as it seems. Forces are beginning to rise once again to rebuild their once-illustrious underworld empires. To stem the tide of this rebirth, the police have turned to bounty hunter Shexie Meiren. Together with her partner – American computer hacker Macy Makker – they take on the criminal elements of the city… and make a profit.

Shexie is a bounty hunter with a bad attitude. It’s demonstrated early on in the book when she breaks up a mugging to collect a bounty just how she feels about other people – leaving a couple high and dry as she dragged the target off.
That’s enough story though the book looks like it’s setting up for some big action in the next issue!

I enjoyed the book, its action sequence, and the mood it was setting. The artist generally used color to great effect, splashing it around to draw the eye to what was important. The art is in a digital painterly style, but it feels rough and slapdash. It could use a little more love to polish it up – it would look great if it was.

I love this story because it ha a female lead. She doesn’t take any crap and she doesn’t care about what you think of her. A definite read for everyone! I think the artwork is great an de commend the writing!

I grew up reading comics in the 80’s and 90’s – everything from Garfield and Peanuts in the Sunday paper to TMNT, Spider-Man, X-Men, and Superman. Seeing my favorite characters come to life on the small screen only deepened my love for them; you couldn’t pull me away from the TV on Saturdays until my morning cartoons were over. But it was Michael Keaton’s Batman that truly blew my mind and turned a love into an obsession. Over the years I dreamed of creating my own comics, but my lack of any artistic talent kept me from seeing that dream become a reality. But in April 2017 I finally made the decision to work with some amazing artists who are just as dedicated to my characters as I am.
