Holy hell, this was really good. I bought this because I’m familiar with the creator and knew his art would be on point. What I wasn’t expecting was his story and writing to be so top tier. If you’re looking at this and thinking it’s not up your alley, take a risk, you’ll probably be surprised by just how solid this comic is.

Funny and colorful. The art style just looks ready for the comedy, and there is enough brought for a sense of intrigue. I cannot wait for issue 2!

Without question, it´s a great comedic comic, a genre sometimes lots of writers ruin with unfunny dialogue and obscure references and shameless 4th wall breaking for an easy laugh. Fortunately, Juanpool is above of that, also offering enough mystery to keep the interest of the reader. Can´t wait for part 2. And 3, and 4, etc.

Well worth your time, hooked from the cover page. I’d recommend this to anyone into those indie book parodies, starved for realistic and complex characters. This creator deserves far more exposure and support! For less than a cup of coffee, you can own something special.

Digging Juanpool, off to a great start. Can’t wait for part 2 and 3.

This was a great read and well worth every penny
The story actively makes fun of the mainstream media and what’s going on in the big 2 (DC and Marvel), while telling it’s own story and being it’s own thing
I like the character of Juan and this is an interesting origin. The art is also fantastic and compliments the series wonderfully, Mistah Mahvel is a great person and needs all the love, hoping to get that physical edition down the line

This book left me in stitches from start to finish. And the art is awesome!!! But then again this is Mistah Mahvel we’re talking about here. If I could rate this higher than a five, I would.

Promising.
Gets points for directly addressing many of issues plaguing the comics industry and geek culture as whole. Juan is a character that would be lauded as an achievement by the “Progressive” crowd(I can not make those quotations big enough) if he were any other comic book, but here he is placed in direct conflict with their ideology. It’s an excellent set up for what I hope to be a cutting satire of modern day comics.

An amazing work by an artist with a knack for working a message through a story without it taking over or detracting from the work itself. JuanPool is like a modern-day Freakazoid that points out many of the problems with current comic trends while simultaneously acting as a model for how to execute the same intent properly; much the way any proper deconstruction should try to rebuild the fallen house. The characters themselves feel very organic with little idiosyncrasies you’d find amongst real people that don’t just become their whole being, such as breaking into a more comfortable language in situations where how one says something isn’t the primary concern. The world feels fairly real as well, mixing both online and offline interactions to mirror life in this super-hero filled setting. Most definitely a story you should be following.
