Indie Comic Artists Finally Get Some Respect!
Some Good News for Creators and Fans in the Indie Comic Space. Help may be well on the way as ComixCentral.com reaches out to the Indie community for Involvement.
Montreal, Canada – June 16, 2016 — In the world of stand-up comedy Rodney Dangerfield made a fortune with his signature line and double negative, “I don’t get no respect!” He like most creative artists had spent years in small clubs and back rooms for very little money until he became an ‘overnight’ success. So it isn’t a mystery as to the plight of those who choose to write, draw or promote Indie comic books. While the mainstream comic book industry is exploding, countless talented inkers, writers, illustrators and other Indie creators are struggling to stay in the business. Help is on the way!
Like the comedy club circuit that keep tomorrow’s comedy greats fed there is soon to be a place for us to see and support the brightest and best in the Comic Book business. It is appropriately called ComixCentral™ because it is created from within the Indie community itself to give Artists and Indie Connoisseurs a central place to find one another.
Co-founder Leigh Jeffery, now living in Calgary but the mainspring of the Montreal-based company says, “We are so excited to be launching a truly Indie platform in such a grass roots way. Involving the community, we love right from the beginning will ensure that we keep this site Indie to the core.” She is alluding to that fact that true to their core belief in everything Indie, the founders chose the crowdfunding giant Indiegogo.com to do their cash raise. The campaign, which began June 14, 2016 will run for sixty days to raise the necessary funds for programming, development, marketing, legal, setup, print and distribution funds as well as the money to create an effective digital comic book reader to deliver a professional product for Indie Comic Book Enthusiasts.
Sounds like an idea who's time has come. ComixCentral™ may well be the answer to the frustration felt by not only the founders but an entire generation of artists who find too much of their development time spent in self-promotion, “We are forced to spread our work all over the web and attend Cons to promote our websites just to sell our work. It totally makes sense to have a central marketplace to sell our work and to connect with others in this business.”
The team creating ComixCentral™ has from 12 to 40 years in the publishing, graphic and web design, marketing and distribution space. The creators are personally vested in the sites long-term success and wish for community involvement. They have already attracted partners like Copic® and Cason®paper to make this a reality.
